When we list a dog as a "Courtesy Post" we have no control over that dog's destination.  Courtesy Post for Owner means we are trying to help an owner find their dog a new home. Courtesy Post for ___ Rescue means we are offering our website as an additional outlet to help that rescue get more exposure to the dog they are trying to place.

My name is Stacey and I am part of a rescue organization in Defiance, OH called A Labor of Love. We were contacted about two dogs that are living in a shed outside. Both have been evaluated are extremely friendly. The owners have already moved, but do come and feed them daily.

They have to be off the property by the 14th of August and then they will be going to a Kill shelter. We are at capacity and are unable to take them. If you are able to take them or know of another respectable dog rescue that may be able to help, please contact me ASAP.

UPDATE

The male has been adopted but the poor girl, I'd hate to have her end up in a kill shelter....she's so nice. I wish that our adoptions would pick up so we can take her in. We'll just have to keep praying for her and the thousands more looking to be saved. Thanks for keeping in touch...it's nice to know people still care.

Well, we did get her updated on her vaccinations and found that she has a mammary tumor and what may be the start of an infection in her uterus. Problem is, she is also heartworm positive, probably has had it for years. Not sure what we are going to do yet....trying to weigh the options, whether it would be humane to make her go thru all of the treatments at her age. She is probably closer to 8 years old.

Personally, I would like to try to find her a place to go that will show her love even if it is as little as a month. We are in desperate need of donations for her though...hoping that if she is cleared to go ahead with treatments that we will have enough money to do so. We are still looking for a rescue and/or foster to take her because the living condition she is in now is not ideal for when she starts treatment. She is no longer in a shed, but is still living outside. Haven't had any luck with potential fosters...and some donations but just not enough yet. Would love put her in our rescue, but still have so many dogs (adoptions are still down) and do not have the means financially to support her. Just praying we get donations to pay for her treatments.

Please contact Stacey if you can foster or wish to adopt.
