UPDATE Below

Her owner writes:

Saphira is a two year old female German Shepherd. She is spayed, current on shots, and given Sentinel as a preventive measure.

Saphira is inquisitive by nature. She is very intelligent and learns very quickly. She is not one to back away from a new situation, being much more likely to watch, sniff, and investigate. We think she looks like the classic German Shepherd in terms of form and color. Her ears have been up since she was a baby, and she is very alert.  Saphira has a small growth on the back of her foreleg, which the vet tested and told us was benign- nothing to worry about , but might want to have removed at some point.

She is fit and really a beautiful dog. My youngest child was nine when we got her. He is now eleven, with sisters fifteen and eighteen. I made an effort when the dogs were young to take them to the elementary school so they would be good around children, unfortunately, there is a rule that dogs are not allowed on school grounds, so they haven't been for some time. I also occasionally take them for excursions in the car, so they are used to that. We have boarded them in kennels several times and they are okay with that too. Saphira enjoys interacting with all our family members, especially going for walks and roughhousing with my husband. She likes squeaky toys.

My kids taught her basic commands like sit, stay, down, etc., plus a few like spin that are funny but not useful, but at least demonstrate the ability to learn. She also chases squirrels in our back yard. Saphira usually sleeps in a crate, which she willingly goes into when we say "crate". When we first moved, both dogs slept in our room on the rug and were well behaved. It is a small house, and we have two cats who have never gotten along with the dogs, so they have never had the run of the house. We really raised these dogs to be pets, but Saphira seems ready for something more, and with training, we have no doubt she would do a great job in a dog career. When you mentioned tracking, I could envision her doing that and loving it. My kids are down about having to let the dogs go, but knowing they are engaged and productive will help ease this process.

UPDATE:

She lives with cats, but  Saphira barks at them and initiates "chase" then Heidi joins in.  The family is not sure if the girls would bark and chase if their sister weren't doing it too.  She has been to "doggie daycare" and the dog park and does well with other dogs.
