When we list a dog as a "Courtesy Post" we have no control over that dog's destination.  Courtesy Post for Owner means we are trying to help an owner find their dog a new home. Courtesy Post for ___ Rescue means we are offering our website as an additional outlet to help that rescue get more exposure to the dog they are trying to place.

Charlie has been running through the streets of Ashtabula for at least two months. Whenever someone would try and go near her, she would run down the middle of the street. I saw her trying to eat frozen garbage and bushes. Finally we live-trapped her on February 6, 2010. She was very shy and terrified but I have been working with her as much as possible. She will sometimes accept food from my hand, she wagged her tail once, and today (the 16th), I finally got to pet her. What I am looking for is a foster home with someone who is knowledgeable about dogs, unlike me. I will still try and find her a home and if the foster parents decide they can no longer work with her, I will take her back. If we could we would keep her but we already have three dogs in a small house. It will break my heart to give her up but I need to do what's right for her.

Charlie is not aggressive at all, she just needs love, time and patience to show her how fun life can be. Charlie wants to be loved and is making progress each day. She is a petite girl.

UPDATE

I wanted to update you, we brought Charlie into the house a few days ago, she is great with other dogs and cats. She is still very skittish about being petted but I can let her out into our fenced in back yard and she comes in when I call her. She does tend to forget her housebreaking lessons and occasionally urinates in the house, but we are working on that and getting better each day.
