A friend of Big Jake's mom & big dog lover writes to Deb:
Hello, Debbie
Thanks for the email, I was going to get to you soon, I just finished placing the lady's Brittany and now I'm ready to work on the
Shepherd/Pyrenees mix. Here's the story:
The couple is in their mid 50's, the husband died suddenly of a Full Arrest. He had the Brittany he loved her, Pat the wife is not a dog person at all but husband was because he was home during the day, Pat worked sometimes 2 jobs.
Husband Jim has a neighbor and best friend and they hung out all day. The neighbor got this wild idea to get a puppy that was a Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd mix, the neighbor who has mild MRDD could not handle the size of the dog starting at 5 months, he was giant, so Jim the Friend offered to let him keep him until he was trained and also let him use the fenced in back yard as his own yard for the puppy. Well then Jim dies and now Pat the wife is stuck taking care of the neighbors puppy( which is now hers) and her husband's Brittany (now placed) and her son's maltese who is currently in England on active duty for the Marines.
A
lot you say, I know. As far as Pat keeping the dogs for company, she doesn't want them at all now that her husband is gone. He took care of them due to the fact he was home all day and Pat is not a dog lover by any means. She takes care of them, provides a warm home and will even foster
Big Jake until he's placed. The neighbor friend comes daily to feed Big Jake and let him out, but also agrees due to his size it was more then he could handle now that Jim is gone.
I met Big Jake and took pictures, he is lovely and giant, he certainly needs a BIG dog person who can handle, train and understands Large breed dogs.
Currently he is 8-9 months. Neutered male.
Perfect with kids and other animals, clueless to what size he is, house broken, and is a furniture sleeper. He is all puppy in a Giants body. Here's the pictures let me know what we can do to place him. He is not a chewer nor does he have any bad habits that I noticed, other than he needs to be trained to walk on a leash, sit, stay, and come, again .... typical puppy.
